Books Provide English/Spanish Translations

August 31, 2002

The pocket-size book English/Spanish for Painters & Contractors provides translations of common terms and phrases, enabling non-Spanish speakers to communicate better with Hispanic contractors. It includes phrases for specific situations, such as “You must wear a hard hat,” as well as for commonly used administrative phrases (“What is your telephone number?”).

The book, published by Made E-Z Products, has a list price of $6.99 and is available at major home-improvement stores and paint retailers, as well as at www.contractorsforms.com or by calling 800/822-4566.

Another new book, Pocket Codes, English-Spanish, will be published this month. A quick reference to the 2000 International Residential Codes, it includes side-by-side English and Spanish text, as well as tables, diagrams and lists for the trades in which Hispanic workers are most often found: concrete, framing, masonry and roofing. More information can be found at www.builderbooks.com.
