Toilet Technology Saves Money for Homeowners

Great Practices

September 30, 2004

A macerating toilet system, such as the Saniplus model from Saniflo, allows remodelers to easily add a bathroom in a basement or garage.

The client wants to add a second bathroom, but the home doesn't have drain lines nearby. To save the customer the cost and time of excavating the floor, installing underground piping or creating a raised floor, consider a macerating toilet. With self-contained pumps, these toilets can flush waste 12 feet vertically and 150 feet horizontally to connect to existing plumbing.

To submit your great idea, send a description (and photo if possible) to Kim Sweet at ksweet@reedbusiness.com.

If we publish your idea, Klein Tools will send you a 10-in-1 screwdriver/nut driver. Each month, Professional Remodeler editors will select one idea as The Light Bulb winner. The creator of that idea will receive a Klein Tools tool bag; a 25-foot, double-sided, power-return tape measure; a wire stripper/cutter; side-cutting pliers; and a 10-in-1 screwdriver/nut driver.
