Artist-Designed Doors Merge Form, Function
| The "Bison Door" costs $5,000. Other Artisans doors vary from $400 to $10,000 depending on the type of wood and design. |
Artisans Doors of Montana's Resident Artist Program recruits Northwest artists from various disciplines to help create one-of-a-kind doors.
"My extensive travels throughout the world have allowed me to experience the marriage of art and function firsthand," says Stephen Anderson, CEO of Artisans Doors & Millwork. "I wanted to bring that experience to our customers, where we produced affordable, functional doors that can be artistic statements in the home."
This "Bison Door," created through the Resident Artist Program's partnership with bronze sculptor Eric Thorsen of Big Fork, Mont., features bronze-cast clay bison herds and a bronze door knocker. Old-world oil and stain were added to the fir door to give the appearance of age.
