Notes from the ASID Expo

The LAMPS PLUS Professionals team attended the ASID/LA Design Trade Expo September 27th and would like to thank those that took the time to stop by and see us. It was held here in Los Angeles and was attended by designers, architects, and builders from California, Arizona, and Nevada. We raffled off a crystal base table lamp as part of the vendor drawing ASID organized. I am pictured above with the winner.

With me at the Expo was award-winning interior designer Lynda Gould. She has extensive experience working here in Los Angeles, specializing in the high-end residential market. Active within the national interior design community for many years, Lynda offers us a unique perspective on the concerns of our professional customers.

In addition to taking note of all the innovations in environmentally-conscious design this year, Lynda picked out a few general trends. She saw a number of unexpected color combinations where natural tones are being combined with synthetic hues. In the mid-range market Lynda found a continuing desire to reinvent the home as a sanctuary. These havens are full of soft neutrals and a generally serene palette. There are “new whites” to compliment the softer colors. For those seeking to indulge hot new trends Lynda saw brighter, deeper hues emerging coupled with animal skins. The metallics are still going strong.

The Babette Holland lamps below are a great example of how versatile metallic finish lighting can be:
