Hello, it seems that some of the people who espouse "green" are some who have never built any thing in their life. Untill ther is a real definition of "green" that can be agreed upon, what exactly is green, just good building practice, keeping up with new methods and techs, building out of straw bales, or old tires in the middle of the desert, using an outdoor burner that smokes up the neighbors air???????????

Terry - Thanks for contributing. I agree with you - now that green is uber-cool, everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon. You can't get away from green in the media right now. Everyone wants a part of it. Luckily, there are some pretty good standards for green building availble right now. They do vary in terms of how stringent they are, and some programs are more comprehensive than others, but the important thing is that they are all beginning to head us in the right direction. USGBC, NAHB,and over 100 local groups run green building programs that help builders and remodelers learn how to do it right. It is somewhat of a moving target right now, but we have the public's attention and need to take advantage of the opportunity.

green seems to be very popular at the moment because the media can make money off it even though it is good to go green people have to be careful about what green products they buy
