The group says the windows and doors business will grow by an average annual rate of 2.8 percent, citing a modest housing recovery by 2012 and slower growth in the remodeling market. (The forecast includes both residential and commercial projects.) Window demand will grow 3.7 percent annually; doors 2.4 percent, the group says.
They forecast a 4.9 percent annual growth for fiberglass and vinyl products, compared to only 2.3 percent for wood and metal doors and windows. Wood will still represent the largest share of the market, at 41 percent, in 2012, the study says.
(Full study is not available online, but you can purchase it for the low, low price of $4,800 from the Freedonia Group.)
