Jonathan Sweet - Remodeling Notes

Jay Sweet
As senior editor of Professional Remodeler, a lot of information crosses my desk. This blog will be a chance to share some of that with you, with an immediacy not possible with a monthly magazine. It's also your chance to tell me what you think about what I have to say. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope you won't be shy.

Doublecheck your marketing message

A lot of you send out newsletters, e-newsletters, direct mail, etc. Here's a quick reminder of why it's important to edit and doublecheck everything you send out. Apparently, the phone number printed in a support guide for a Linksys product led to a phone sex line. Oops!

A similar thing happened when I worked for the state of Wisconsin's Medicaid program about 10 years ago. A provider newsletter (which I, luckily, had nothing to do with) listed an incorrect 800-number for customer service ... which led to a psychic hotline. (Although shouldn't they have been able to answer all their questions?)

The point is, a little editing can save a lot of embarrassment later.
