Part of Kolbe’s K-Force, impact certified products, the new Windquest Series of vinyl windows and patio doors have received High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) approval from Florida. The HVHZ are
a includes Miami-Dade and Broward counties, which we all know have the harshest hurricane exposures and highest product requirements in the nation.
Kolbe’s Windquest Series impact certified products have met large missile impact level D and wind zone 4 testing standards in excess of 140 mph. Design pressures in zone 4 often exceed 65 pounds per square foot (psf) and can approach 110-psf. But the if the glass is broken by strong winds or flying debris, the units’ dual-glazed insulating impact laminated glass is engineered to remain intact helping reduce property damage and severe injury—it’s amazing to see completely broken glass still stay together.
The Windquest Series includes casement, awning, double hung, sliding and single hung windows, and sliding doors in a full range of sizes, shapes and configurations. The units’ fusion welded frames and sash corners also prevent the infiltration of water and air, while providing greater structural integrity.
Frames come in white or beige. Divided lite patterns with PDL (performance divided lites) or grilles-in-the-airspace are available. Trims, accessories, screens and a selection of handle and hardware styles also may be requested.
