Forget Brushed Nickel--Go With Wood!

My esteemed colleague at Professional Remodeler, Jay Sweet (read his blog here) gave me the heads-up on a curious product he found whilst fulfilling his worthy senior editor duties. Since you probably won’t find yourself in Fontaneto D'Agongna any time soon, take a moment to check out these faucets online from Omax.

Yes, that’s wood, not metal. There are three faucet/shower lines: Nottingham, Sherwood and Robin. Woods available include walnut, cherry, teak and wenge, which I found interesting as wenge, although exotic and striking, is an incredibly porous wood with a long texture (you usually see it in flooring). It’s also curious to note that wenge’s bark, when ground into dust, is a toxin and, I'm told, a mild hallucinogen. How Omax managed to make a faucet out of it is beyond me, though they tout their operations facility as “completely robotized," and it probably would have to be, what with all the hallucinogens in the air...
