Excel Homes of Camp Hill, Pa., recently launched a new interactive Web site and blog, Excel Drawing Board, that solicits comments from consumers, architects and builders about its latest modular design concepts. Excel, one of the nation's largest custom modular-home manufacturers, is using the new site to showcase some of its latest designs and renderings and gather valuable feedback that will help determine what changes need to be made and whether the design concepts should be brought to market. The company also hopes to dispel the persistent image of modular buildings as boxy, cheap and featureless.
At the moment there are four concepts featured: an expandable educational facility, an eco-friendly classroom, a short-term housing complex and a roadside rest-stop facility. To come are single-family, multifamily and office designs.
Visit the site and register for the updates. It's fun, user-friendly and might just tweak your imagination.
