“My family once won a raffle for a large portion of St. Simons Island in Georgia in the early 1900s. However, there was no bridge to the island and the island was marshy/wet and very hot. So, my great grandmother never laid claim to her winnings and abandoned the island, moving back to Alabama. Now, the island is a huge resort worth millions of dollars per acre.”
