| Preparing to relocate from the Midwest to the scenic Southwest, the empty-nester couple who commissioned this home as their retirement residence requested that it represent the history of the locale. The interior of the pueblo-style home accomplishes that goal through authentic touches such as stone floors; curved, smooth plaster walls; adobe fireplaces; and hand-carved accents. Although the living areas flow together, the architect established a separate identity for each space, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Pot shelves and display niches are sprinkled throughout the interior. The home features formal living and dining areas, a family room, a den, and a large gourmet kitchen with a center island and a separate snack bar. The master suite has a fireplace, luxury bath and sitting area. The guest suite on the detached lower level includes two bedrooms and two full baths for visiting families. The house and casita follow the site's natural topography, and each building features a large covered patio. This luxury home also has an outdoor kitchen and a negative-edge pool overlooking a golf course. | |||||
