This Northern European-style home in the heart of Palo Alto is intended to appeal to affluent move-down buyers or families interested in a downtown lifestyle. On the exterior, a stucco finish and a steep gable roof that focuses attention on the front entry blend into the established neighborhood of 70- to 100-year-old homes. A detached, two-car garage with carriage-style doors is at the rear of the lot. The main floor of this upscale residence includes a traditional parlor with a fireplace off the main foyer. The formal dining room is also a separate space and includes French doors that open out to the front porch. A large informal zone, composed of family room with fireplace, a kitchen and a breakfast nook, occupies the rear of the home. A central staircase leads to the second-floor bedrooms. The master retreat features a separate sitting room (or optional bedroom), a three-way fireplace and a large, compartmented bath with a separate tub and glassed-in shower. The finished basement includes an additional bedroom and a large recreation room. Space above the garage offers many optional uses.
