| Designed and decorated on the grand scale favored by noted Florida architect Addison Mizner, this Mediterranean-style residence features all the elegance and drama of his 1920s architectural masterpieces, including trefoil arched windows, precast detailing, Corinthian columns, exquisite ceilings, and spiral stairways accented by wrought iron. In a unique twist, the main level contains the home's five secondary bedrooms, game rooms, studio and office, and exercise room. The formal area, including the living and dining rooms, family room, kitchen and master suite, shares the second floor with a second office, two guest suites and housekeeping quarters. This reverse arrangement gives the best water views to the important entertaining areas. To maximize hurricane protection, builders used precast concrete as well as steel walls and floor panels connected by steel beams and steel bar joists to create a structure capable of withstanding winds higher than 225 mph. | |||||
