| Inspired by the architecture of the West Indies, this custom beach-oriented retreat showcases its owner's eclectic furniture and art collection. The home's interior illustrates the client's preference for a mix of contemporary elements and traditional textures and materials. The simplicity of the box form carries over to the wood trim on its interior walls. Interesting details abound, including "wormy" cypress stair risers that complement the antique cypress plank floors and the corrugated galvanized metal that finishes wet walls in the kitchen and bathroom, the ceiling of the outdoor dining porch, and a drip wall for hanging wet swimsuits and towels. Three-dimensional, handmade glass tiles create the surround for the antique fireplace that serves as the family room's focal point. A balcony extends the second-floor master suite to the outdoors, and the home's front elevation features full-width porches on the first and second levels. | |||||
