The variable functionality of the kitchen in this luxury home makes this important room suitable for everything from preparing and sharing intimate family meals to catering large dinner parties. In a twist of convention, the butler's pantry adjoining the kitchen is located to simplify service to an outdoor courtyard rather than the formal dining room, although the central location remains convenient to all formal and informal entertaining areas. The butler's pantry, replete with cabinetry, dishwasher, sink, refrigerated drawers and wine chiller, doubles the kitchen's usable work space and functions as a staging area for caterers. The main kitchen, which includes a breakfast nook and two-level center island, provides access to the courtyard and adjoining covered piazza through French doors. The stainless steel wall tile in the kitchen's backsplash complements the commercial-style appliances.
