| This delightful guesthouse is part of a larger estate on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay. The home's unique charm comes as much from the thoughtful symbolism that the owners instilled into its design as from the authentic Craftsman detailing drawn from the Hooper Straight lighthouse, an East Coast landmark. The guesthouse, sited on the foremost point of the estate's peninsula property, gives the client's grown daughters peace and privacy on their return visits to the family home. It includes two bedrooms, each with a full bath, a separate living room and a small kitchen. The living room features an octagonal shape culminating in a cathedral ceiling capped by a cupola. This common area of the guesthouse, appointed in a nautical theme, offers water views in all directions. A picture gallery with six sets of French doors connects the retreat's bedrooms and living room. Circular porthole windows punctuate both ends of the structure. A small, latticed garden room separates the guesthouse from the main residence. | |||||
