This charming custom home is on an infill site in the heart of downtown Charlotte. The clients were adamant about incorporating the charm of the existing neighborhood into their new residence. The builder had to manage a three-month process of preparing the project for approval by the local historic district. Preservation of the mature trees on the site was especially important and was so successfully executed that many passersby thought the house was a renovation, not new construction. The home features a family-oriented floor plan that includes a stone fireplace focal point in the great room, an open kitchen with snack bar and adjoining breakfast nook, a screened porch and even a climbing wall (with removable handholds) in the peak of the third-floor attic space.
