This development blends a renowned inn and conference center into a complete village with homes, shopping, offices and civic uses. The historic, 90-acre property features homes that are less formal than in most TNDs. The architectural styles reflect the "comfortable house" era from the 1920s through 1940s with an emphasis on the cottage and bungalow looks. The neighborhood is platted in 16-foot-wide lots, although a single home site might occupy two to four lots with house plans pre-designed for each lot width. This creates a more interesting streetscape and wider pricing opportunities. Highland Lake is a mixed-age, mixed-income community. It includes a 22-acre lake, pastures, walking trails, a day spa, yoga classes, a school, a pool and tennis courts. A total of 287 units are planned for the project, with a density of 2.7 units per acre gross or 4.5 units per acre net after adjustment for 40% open space.
