The Best of the Midwest Design Awards 2003 Introduction

January 6, 2005

Now in its second year, the Best of the Midwest Design Awards competition was launched by Professional Remodeler to recognize the work of remodelers in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. This year, 12 awards were presented.

The judges found that Midwestern design shares many of the characteristics traditionally associated with the region: quality workmanship, practical solutions, and good value for the price. Much of the remodeling work being done focused on shared spaces — living rooms and kitchens — as well as guest bedrooms and baths, allowing homeowners to gather with family and friends. Popular changes included adding windows and skylights to offer more natural light and improve sightlines and brightening rooms with bold paint colors on the walls.

  • Gold Award Winners
