| Designed for an avid cook who requested a kitchen that would function as a gourmet work space as well as an entertainment center, this kitchen features oversize, commercial-grade appliances and abundant counter and storage space. Light from large custom windows and patio doors feeds the room's exceptionally bright, cheerful ambience. This part of the home is open to an adjoining family room, allowing the homeowner to entertain guests while preparing meals. A two-tier, L-shaped island contributes to this design goal. The higher, family room side of the island provides seating for two, while the counter on the kitchen side is the correct height for someone standing and working at the counter. This dual-height design also keeps the preparation space hidden from family room view. The island incorporates stacked dishwasher units and an extra-deep sink with a brushed-finish faucet that complements the stainless steel appliances. The warm colors of the cherry cabinetry and dark granite countertops provide a striking visual balance to the stainless steel. The room's focal point is the double-wide range. | |||||
