From the road, the extensive nature of this 7,000-square-foot footprint is disguised. The house is basically a main box with wings, which help reduce the overall massing. The clients also wanted an American house with English roots, architect J. Carson Looney says, true to historic English Georgian styling while accommodating the needs of an active American family. Historical design and reclaimed materials, including brick, heart-pine timbers and pine floors, give the house the authentic feel of an older home inside and out.
