| Rivermark is an urban infill, master-planned community on a 225-acre former hospital campus in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Pedestrian, bicycle and light-rail modes of transportation link the development with nearby high-tech employers. The goal for this project was to offer buyers more diverse housing opportunities through the use of urban planning concepts. Residential neighborhoods encompass approximately 1,900 new market-rate and affordable homes, including a mix of single-family detached dwellings (8-14 dwelling units per acre), attached townhomes (16-20 du/acre) and multifamily residences (up to 50 du/acre). Carriageway-loaded plans and entry doors and porches that front on pedestrian paseos rather than streets contribute to a pedestrian-friendly feel. Retail space includes a main-street drive with traditional storefronts, sidewalk cafés and kiosks alongside more conventional, parking-oriented retail centers. The community also includes a midrise hotel to serve businesses and residents. |
