Genesis Homes Uses Universal Forest Products' Custom-Designed Roof Trusses

Universal Forest Products designed and built the roof trusses for the 2004 Genesis Show Home at the 2004 International Builders' Show, Jan. 19-22 in Las Vegas.

Open Joist 2000, a revolutionary open-web, all-wood floor truss engineered for long spans and superior load-carrying capabilities, allows builders such as Genesis Homes to design distinctive homes.

The unique benefit of Open Joist 2000 is the open-web engineering that allows for quick, easy installation of electrical, plumbing and HVAC ductwork. The ductwork can be installed within the floor frame instead of below it, eliminating dangling mechanicals.

With the open-web design, the forces of compression and tension work together, maximizing the power of the triangle to create superior strength and load-carrying capabilities. The precision finger joinery and waterproof structural adhesives produce a stronger, more resilient wood-to-wood connection.
