Silver Award for Best Green-Built Home Project Name: 2009 New American Home Sustainability was central to the design of this home, which consumes near net-zero energy and is certified Gold under the NAHB Green Building Program. The residence achieved 76 percent whole-house energy savings due to such features as insulated concrete forms; an unvented, sealed attic; a 56-panel solar PV system; spray foam insulation; tankless water heaters; and low-e windows. Passive solar design maximizes natural light while minimizing direct solar heat gain.
