SEER 2003/2004: A REMODELING RESEARCH INITIATIVE

Integrity Heating and Cooling is the geothermal contractor on the site. Two three-ton units serve the first floor and second floor, respectfully. A main trunk in the attic is fully insulated and located to preserve space and to minimize run length. This trunk line in the basement of the main house is engineered to stay above door heights while carrying adequate air.

Keeping the doorways clear from trunk lines took some design and engineering work, masterfully accomplished by Integrity Heating and Cooling.

The attic contains some 14-foot ceilings and nearly 800 square feet of usable space. Preservation of some of this area is important to future utilization of the space. Locating the geothermal system centrally minimizes duct runs.

The cottage duct work is one simple trunk along a main beam. The first and second floors are served off this compact line. No ductwork is located in outside walls or beyond conditioned space, greatly enhancing efficiency.
