This roofing system employs patent-pending Weather Defender technology, which uses an acrylic bonding agent to adhere the roof granules to the asphalt shingle. The technology encapsulates the ceramic granules within a layer of clear acrylic, forming a membrane that protects the shingles from the deteriorating effects of heat, moisture and prolonged UV exposure, the company says.
