Public Relations Pros Present "Ask Carol"

An Ask the Expert Service on NHDBuzz.com
September 16, 2009

Atlanta – Powerhouse public relations professionals Carol Flammer and Carol Ruiz have joined forces with NHDBuzz.com to offer Ask Carol, an Ask the Expert service that provides answers to all the burning real estate public relations and social media questions of home builders, developers, real estate agents and their marketers. Flammer, owner of Atlanta-based Flammer Relations and managing partner of mRELEVANCE, and Ruiz, principal of Los Angeles-based red rocket LA, each bring 20 years of professional experience, and will each provide their advice on trade questions weekly on the new home news site.
Despite the fact that they live and work on opposite sides of the country, the duo's partnership seemed destined. Their similarities don't stop with their first name. The two blondes are Libras and middle children that run their own public relations shops and live by the “play hard, work hard” philosophy. More importantly, they are also both extremely active in the real estate industry on both local and national levels, and incredibly passionate about their work.
“For just over a year, NHDBuzz.com has been an important marketing tool for hundreds of building industry professionals” says CEO Jim Adams. “With all the social media buzz and questions about it, I felt like NHD Buzz was a great place to highlight a couple professionals that are successfully pioneering new media strategies for home builders. Carol Flammer and Carol Ruiz are natural choices to take center stage. They are bright, competent, and are eager to contribute to the health of our industry. The building industry will benefit greatly from their knowledge, insight, and experiences shared on Ask Carol.”
Ask Carol will combine Flammer's Southern charm with Ruiz's West Coast flair. “Collaborating on a project like this is something that we have wanted to do for a long time, and Ask Carol is a perfect way to do that,” says Flammer. “Because we represent different regions of the country, we can bring different ideas and suggestions based on what we have seen work in our distinct experiences with our clients.”
Rather than seeing one another as competitors, the two respect each other's work and consider themselves allies. “Carol Flammer and I work together on several NAHB committees and we value each other’s insights and viewpoints. We might have varying solutions regarding specific marketing and PR issues based on our opposite coast locations, but we share a passion for our industry and a love of collaborative work that can benefit our clients and the industry as a whole, especially in today’s challenging economic climate,” adds Ruiz.
Real estate-focused public relations and social media questions for the two can be submitted at http://www.nhdbuzz.com/AskCarol/. Each week, the two will post their answers to a selected question. The site will become a forum of tips, tricks and techniques based on Flammer's and Ruiz's extensive expertise.
Ruiz has established relationships with editors nationwide and has garnered press in esteemed publications, such as the New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, as well as the all the real estate industry publications critical to her clients’ business. She is active in the industry, holding memberships in the Building Industry Association (BIA), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). She belongs to the editorial advisory boards for Options and Builder and Developer magazines. Ruiz is also a frequent speaker on topics such as PR and social media for builders/developers at real estate industry events, including the International Builders’ Show, Urban Land Fall Meeting, HomeX and the Building Industry Show. During her years as a PR professional, Ruiz has worked with a wide ranging list of real estate focused companies, including architecture, development, land planning, home building, real estate financing and service companies.
Flammer has established herself as the “go to” for real estate and construction products public relations and social media. She is the creator of the nationally-ranked and award-winning www.AtlantaRealEstateForum.com, Atlanta’s most popular real estate blog. Flammer has spoken at a number of tradeshows including the International Builders Show and the Southern Building Show. She speaks frequently to Sales and Marketing Councils and PR groups and teaches social media seminars at home builders associations around the country. A member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, Flammer was honored in 2008 as the HBA Associate of the Year. She is a member of the Atlanta Apartment Association, Urban Land Institute, National Association of Real Estate Editors, Professional Women in Building and Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
