Pella Adds Entry Doors

Pella announced a whole new line of product offerings at the 2000 National Association of Home Builder's show in Dallas. Pella launched the new line in hopes of becoming a "one-stop-shopping" source for homeowners and contractors.

The line includes fiberglass and steel entry doors, plus matching transoms and sidelights. A variety of glass inserts are also available, in six different styles. Doors can be ordered in 2 ft. 8 in. or 3 ft. widths and 6 ft. 8 in., 7 ft. and 8 ft. heights, and doors come pre-assembled from the factor to ensure quality and ease installation.

The fiberglass entry doors simulate a wood-grain appearance and come primed, ready for either paint or stain. Steel doors, made from 24-gauge metal, also come primed for painting. Aluminum-clad frames are available in eleven colors, and custom colors are also available. Primed wood frames can also be ordered. Thirteen panel styles, including styles with decorative glass inserts, can be mixed and matched with sidelights and transoms, and hardware comes in one of six finishes.

Doors include jambs designed to rest on top of the sill, to prevent wicking water. Door units also feature dual-seal weather-stripping and a moisture-resistant bottom rail for additional weather protection. A polyurethane core between the door panel provides extra stability and energy efficiency.

Doors are assembled in one-piece fin/frame for more reliable performance, and fins may be removed for installation flexibility. The hinges and threshold have adjustment capabilities to counteract house settling and to ensure consistent performance and operation. Frame design allows for storm door additions as well.

Clear glass inserts may incorporate an optional removable interior wood muntin, and decorative glass patterns feature 24 percent lead crystal jewels that augment textured art glass and several types of caming materials. Clear glass may also incorporate argon gas or Low-E InsulShield glass for additional energy protection, and glass is warrantied for 20 years. Decorative glass and other door components are warrantied for 10 years.
