Exterior Siding

The personality of a house is often established with the builder's choice of exterior siding. Georgia-Pacific has an impressive array of siding choices that are appropriate for a variety of architectural styles. Whether it's a cabin at the lake with plywood siding or a starter or move-up home with vinyl, engineered wood or fiber-cement siding, Georgia-Pacific has a siding solution that fits.

The front of the G-P Progressive House is clad with Catawba® engineered wood siding, backed by a 30-year limited warranty.* The factory-primed siding was easy to paint an attractive gray that suits its traditional style.

Catawba engineered wood siding comes in a wide variety of profiles and textures and lap and panel styles. Among the possibilities are deep, sharp shadow lines, smooth surfaces for accent paneling or board-and-batten effects, classic grooves for vertical applications and the look of rough-cut lumber.

"G-P engineered wood siding helps balance the need for economy and easy installation with the desire for a beautiful, durable exterior," says John Gomez, sales manager. "These products offer 'first-choice' solutions with the performance, quality and aesthetic appeal buyers expect."

On the front of the G-P Progressive House, the builders selected Georgia-Pacific PrimeTrim® for nonstructural exterior trim applications such as fascia, corner boards, column covers, and door and window trim. PrimeTrim comes in a variety of thicknesses and widths, allowing builders to achieve the look of custom millwork. Free of the defects often found in lumber, PrimeTrim is straighter and easier to install.

"Since PrimeTrim is factory-primed, it's easy to paint, saving the builder time and offering longer repaint cycles," says Gomez. "This product helps builders and architects bring the look of fine traditional craftsmanship to new homes at a fraction of custom costs."

Vinyl siding continues to grow in popularity in new construction as profiles and colors have expanded. Georgia-Pacific offers a full line of vinyl siding and accessories that are easy to install and maintain.

Heritage Hill™ vinyl siding in a deep pewter was used on the back of the G-P Progressive House. Recently introduced, Heritage Hill (.044-inch) vinyl siding is available in 15 colors, including five new darker hues in the Natural Traditions palette. Heritage Hill vinyl siding is warranted against excessive color fade and features color-through technology that helps minimize the appearance of scratches.*

On the side of the house, you'll see Rough Sawn Cedar™ vinyl siding with the look of real wood cedar shakes. It's often used as an accent in conjunction with other siding materials. The long-lasting polymers help protect against sunlight and warping. Another specialty siding often used by builders as an accent is New World Scallops™ vinyl siding, which resembles traditional wood scallops. UV inhibitors help protect this product from sun damage, and interlocking fingers offer solid application and an accurate fit.

"The architectural emphasis on regionally appropriate design is here to stay, and color is a big part of the story," says Wayne Wiggleton, vice president, sales & distribution specialty products. "Our vinyl siding is available in a beautiful palette of attractive and historically accurate colors, so builders can specify vinyl siding with confidence."

G-P Savannah™ vinyl shutters and matching shutter caps complement the vinyl siding choices and are available in open louvered and colonial raised-panel styles.

For those seeking another durable, economical alternative to wood siding, Georgia-Pacific offers fiber-cement siding. Well known for its low maintenance, fiber-cement siding is also noncombustible. Wood-grain appearances range from a deep cedar grain to a traditional smooth finish. Fiber-cement siding takes paint or stain with equal ease.

Whether it's a cabin at the lake with plywood siding or a starter or move-up home with vinyl, engineered wood or fiber-cement siding, Georgia-Pacific has a siding solution that fits.

Choices, Choices

The Heritage Hill line complements other members of the G-P vinyl siding family with a soft cedar emboss and a painted appearance. Other G-P vinyl siding products available include Forest Ridge® (.042"), Shadow Ridge® (.042") and VisionPro® (.040") vinyl sidings. Cedar Lane® (.046") premium vinyl siding offers the look of real stained wood siding.

In addition, Georgia-Pacific offers several specialty vinyl sidings. Chatham Ridge® vinyl siding delivers the look of authentic colonial-style clapboard. Somerset® (.044") vinyl siding is a classic 6.5-inch beaded lap profile, providing a look reminiscent of upscale Eastern Seaboard facades. Castle Ridge® vinyl siding, with its deeply embossed wood-grain texture, is available in a white, single 8-inch lap.
