KB Home Resumes Operations in the Mid-Atlantic Region
KB Home to Offer New, Energy-Efficient Home Designs from The Open Series in Washington, D.C., Area
September 16, 2009
KB Home (NYSE: KBH), one of America's premier homebuilders, today announced that it is resuming its homebuilding operations in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Maryland and Virginia. The move further bolsters the company's presence along the eastern seaboard of the United States, where it already has operations across Florida and the Carolinas.
"Our nation's capital has some of the country's most vibrant and historic residential neighborhoods," said Vince DePorre, regional president of KB Home's southeast operations, who will continue to oversee the Mid-Atlantic division. "We have always viewed the Washington, D.C., area as a strategic market, and sustained a presence in the region even as we moved to preserve cash, lower expenses and reduce inventory companywide. In addition to providing outstanding customer service to our homeowners, we retained some of our most valuable land options with an eye toward rolling out new communities when the time was right. That time is now, and we look forward to contributing to the economic growth of the Washington, D.C., area."
Many of the designs KB Home intends to build in the Mid-Atlantic region will be from The Open Series(TM), KB Home's new generation of affordable, flexible and energy-efficient homes, offering buyers extraordinary choice and value through the company's Built to Order(TM) experience. KB Home has also made a commitment to build all of its new home communities to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's stringent ENERGY STAR(R) guidelines, reducing buyers' carbon footprint and cost of home ownership for years to come.
"We believe there is a growing demand for high-quality, energy-efficient and affordably priced new homes in the Washington, D.C., area," continued DePorre. "Our homes from The Open Series are designed to give today's buyers exactly what they are looking for, while offering an incredible level of personalization to reflect each buyer's unique style and budget."
