JAMES E. ZIRKEL, NCBDC
Taught by his father, Jim Zirkel has been in the architectural and residential design business for more than 35 years. Zirkel was educated at Ohio State University and began his career in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1966. In 1978, he moved his company to Orlando, Fla., where he founded Home Design Services, Inc. Home Design Services has more than 8,000 plans that have been built across the United States and in 56 other countries worldwide.

Zirkel's exclusive designs have national and international appeal. He has won more than 200 Parade of Homes awards including seven Grand Awards. In addition, some of his designs have been awarded the coveted Aurora Award. He has won national recognition in the American Institute of Building Designers National Award Competition, winning more than 22 awards. Zirkel is also a member of the Home Builders Association, was associate vice president in 1990, and Associate of the Year in 1992. He is also a certified member of the American Institute of Building Designers (AIBD) and a Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD).
