Dens-Shield tile backer has an acrylic tile-side coat ing designed to keep moisture from penetrating the board or migrating into the wall cavity. Its surface coating bonds with mastic or thin-set to create a package behind the tiles that the company says is water-impermeable, even if grout cracks. Under a new warranty, if a tile installation properly applied over Dens-Shield using tile industry standards ever fails, G-P will pay for the repair or replacement of the entire tile assembly.
