FutureSmart™ Provides User-Friendly Home Networking with Many Upgrades

FutureSmart Networks, Inc. is providing the structured wiring system for the D.R. Horton model home. A Home Networking panel, Multi-Media cable and Multi-Media receptacles are used to "FutureProof®" the home. A unique feature of the FutureSmart Home Networking panel is that it includes a patch bay area which allows users to quickly and conveniently route and reroute signals in the home based on changing needs. This is accomplished by using patch cords to route voice/data and video signals to the desired room. If the homeowner decides to relocate his home office, for example, all he needs to do is change the data patch cord on the patch bay area to reroute the dedicated data line to the new office location.

FutureSmart has the most comprehensive and complete offering of upgrade options available that can tie into the Home Networking panel. These include components for high speed internet access via DSL or cable modems; 10-Base T or 100-Base T computer networks; security systems; home theater systems; whole-house distributed audio; satellite TV distribution and home automation. The FutureSmart Home Networking panel also supports fiber optic cabling.

A new feature in the home is the FutureSmart Futureview™ camera. This revolutionary camera connects to the internet and will allow homeowners to view their home from any computer. The user can connect to Futureview TV, input their account information and password, and then be connected via a secure line to the cameras in their home. When used in conjunction with a security system, the FutureSmart Network can be programmed to notify the homeowner when an unauthorized entry has occurred and use the camera to record the activities of the intruder.

"FutureSmart's ease of use, flexibility and large variety of upgrade options make it very marketable from a builder's point of view," says Gary Tanner, director of sales. "FutureSmart offers one of the most comprehensive upgrade packages in the marketplace. However, if the homeowner only wants one component, such as a security system, we can provide it. In addition to the hardware, we offer installation services. Another benefit for builders is FutureSmart's services, which include high speed internet access, satellite service, and security monitoring services. Builders who sell these services will receive a portion of the revenue."
