Clear Tannin Guard is a pre-stain conditioner designed to prevent the finish of exterior wood from discoloring as a result of tannin bleed. The product neutralizes tannic acid without covering up or filling in the aesthetic characteristics of the wood. It applies with a garden sprayer and dries in two to four hours, the company says. One gallon covers 200 to 400 square feet depending on the type of surface.
