This exterior covered deck project was submitted for its unique design, blending with the existing home and creating a perfect entertainment and leisure space for a family that likes to entertain outdoors year round.

Charged with creating an outdoor entertainment area that blended their natural and woodsy backyard to the inside of their home, we designed a two- level outdoor deck with an outdoor fireplace. A winding set of stairs gently takes one down to the yard with a new stamped concrete patio below. Entertaining on two levels is quite possible as the spaces are easily accessed.

A cultured stone was selected for the fireplace surround, with a grand fireplace chimney. A roaring fire will keep this family outdoors even in the coldest months. Cedar timber framing create the open pavilion space with a wrought iron handrail wrapping the length of the deck. A ceramic tile was selected for the covered deck area, for easy cleaning and maintenance. Unique lighting was chosen in keeping with the feel of the timber frame design. Fans keep a gentle breeze circulating in the warmer months.

Challenges included too much rain! Grading the natural slopes of the yard was required to facilitate the installation of the lower patio, which consisted of retaining walls and stairs.
