CertainTeed Donates WeatherBoards FiberCement Siding to 2009 St. Jude Dream Home
Home Raffle Will Benefit Children's Hospital
April 29, 2009
The St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway is among the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and this year CertainTeed is proud to donate its WeatherBoards FiberCement Siding to the project.
Stephen Alexander Homes & Neighborhoods, a mutigenerational family business based in Chesapeake, Va., is building the luxurious 3,058 square-foot Dream Home. The Colonial Revival-style house features an award-winning kitchen and master bathroom. Its sweeping wrap-around front porch and large screened-in veranda in the back complement the home’s wooded setting, as does the realistic wood grain texture of CertainTeed’s WeatherBoards Cedar Lap FiberCement Siding that wraps the house for long-lasting curb appeal.
“It’s an honor to be part of a project that will literally help save lives,” says Allison Barlaz, Director of Marketing for CertainTeed’s FiberCement Division. “Stephen Alexander Homes & Neighborhoods is building a magnificent Dream Home for St. Jude. The work and design detail they have put into the home is both generous and remarkable.”
The Dream Home will be sold by way of charitable raffle. There are 11,500 tickets available at a cost of $100 each, with all proceeds going to St. Jude. The winning ticket will be drawn on May 31, 2009.
“We’ve been familiar with the St. Jude Dream Home initiative for awhile and this year it just felt like a good fit for us,” says Stephen Quick IV, Principal of Stephen Alexander Homes & Neighborhoods. “The home is being built in our Summer Park community, which provides the winner the best of two worlds – a rural environment with city amenities nearby. I’m very happy with the work that has been put into this home, and know the winner will be as well. Many of our building partners have donated valuable time and materials to make this year’s St. Jude Dream Home a reality. Their generosity is tremendous.”
CertainTeed is donating 400 pieces of 8-1/4„c WeatherBoards Cedar Lap FiberCement Siding to the project. CertainTeed FiberCement Siding is made with an exclusive, patented formula using a combination of recycled fly ash, Portland cement, wood fiber and specialty additives. The formula creates an environmentally friendly, lighter weight, lower density product with the most authentic-looking grains and textures of any fiber cement siding on the market. In green building design projects, CertainTeed FiberCement contributes to LEED® credits and the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) National Green Building StandardTM guidelines.
