America's Natural Gas Industry Has a Safety Record That's a Model for the World

December 31, 1899

Year after year, America’s natural gas industry builds on our record of operating one of the safest, most reliable pipeline delivery systems in the world. Which is a good thing, since more customers are using natural gas all the time.

In fact, over the past 10 years, safety incidents throughout our distribution system have decreased by 38 percent while, during the same period, the amount of natural gas delivered to our customers has increased by nearly 25 percent. That’s why teams from eight different countries have sent their experts here to study our natural gas delivery system.

We want to do even better. Besides constantly improving our own efforts, we’re teaming with members of other industries to help them employ best safety practices when working around gas lines.

It takes that kind of vigilance and cooperation to protect the public and the environment. And to show the world an energy industry can grow and be safe at the same time.
