Several websites that provide useful information and assistance for those in the decking industry have been brought to our attention recently. They run the gamut from information on treated wood to assistance for those looking for PVC decking resources. Here's a look at four helpful decking resources:
- Viance LLC, a firm that provides advanced wood-treatment technologies and services to the global wood-treatment industry, has redesigned its website www.treatedwood.com, adding new features, links and making it easier for visitors to navigate. Features on the site include: project plans for decks, fences, chairs and other outdoor-related projects; a product and brand search engine; and an interactive retailer locator. The website also includes a link to www.treatedwoodalert.com, a site dedicated to informing the market about the differences among treated wood preservatives and the potential risks associated with some preservative systems. Among the products featured on the site are Ecolife Stabilized Weather-Resistant Wood, a new generation of treated wood for above ground and ground contact applications, and Preserve ACQ, an AWPA-standardized, environmentally advanced, soluble copper-plus-quat preservative system backed by 20 years of performance.
- The Universal Forest Products website, www.ufpi.com has a section on products and downloadable literature for decking and railing, fences and indoor/outdoor projects. Literature includes professional guides and installation instructions for a variety of their decking brands.
- Fiberon, a manufacturer of composite decking and railing, sports a website, www.fiberondecking.com, that features a deck designer tool that illustrates color combinations and helps designers figure out the best colors to match a home. Also included are useful resources for builders and contractors including sections on installation, code compliance and techspecs.
- Sensibuilt Buiding Solutions, LLC, a developer and manufacturer of high-quality alternative building materials, recently launched a new website, www.sensibuilt.com, where contractors, trade professionals and even consumers can find information about decking and the decking industry, sample requests, dealer locator and their contractor program. The site also provides background for the science that shaped Sensibuilt decking.
