For building professionals interested in increasing their knowledge of propane’s green applications in the marketplace, PERC has partnered with CS Learning Solutions to offer free, American Institute of Architects (AIA) certified educational courses. Through virtual classroom, web-based platforms, and “lunch and learn” formats, participants can learn how propane provides a practical solution to the demand for green building, how to incorporate propane into their building practices as well as better understand and market propane’s advantages to homeowners. Course offerings include:

  • Green Water Heating with Propane: Retrofitting from Electric (available now)
  • Propane and Underground Propane Tanks (available now)
  • Building Green with Propane (available July 2008)
  • Hydronic Heating with Propane (available July 2008)
  • Community Propane Systems (available July 2008)

Demand and acceptance for green building has surged in the last several years. In fact, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) predicts up to 10 percent of new construction—an estimated $60 billion worth—will be built green by the year 2010. As customers search for energy choices that combine performance and value, they consistently turn to builders for guidance and advice.

“The focus on becoming green and improving energy efficiency has captured the attention of those builders seeking to provide innovative solutions to their customers,” said Kate Caskin, senior vice president, Propane Education & Research Council (PERC). “As an energy source, propane occupies a unique position in that it can provide many of the green lifestyle attributes consumers demand, yet remains a practical and reliable choice.”

In addition to delivering imaginative, economical, and practical floor plans, builders must provide their customers with energy sources that are cost-effective, efficient, and comfortable for the life of the home. Propane delivers it all, providing exceptional energy to everything from tankless water heaters, indoor and poolside fireplaces, and kitchens, inside and out. And by installing an underground propane tank, propane provides an easy and practical solution for builders wanting to go green while pleasing their aesthetically minded customers.
