Armstrong Companies recognized at Building Industry of Hawaii’s 2013 Renaissance Building and Remodeling Awards
Hawaii builder receives two overall Grand Awards and two Grand Awards for remodeling orojects on Oahu and Maui.
Armstrong Companies and its affiliated companies—Armstrong Builders and Armstrong Pacific—won multiple awards at the 2013 Renaissance Awards, receiving four awards, including the coveted Overall Grand Awards for residential and commercial remodeling. The projects were recognized for reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship, a dedication to collaboration and an abiding respect for the islands.

Among the awards received:
Overall Grand Award – Residential Remodeling Category
Armstrong Builders earned the Overall Grand Award in the residential remodeling category for its work on a luxury remodel on Oahu. Designed by Peter Vincent Architects, the home was transformed into an open, modern space ideal for daily living and showcasing the owners’ extensive art collection. The renovation provided for new mauka-makai views, natural ventilation, an opened-up kitchen with the largest island ever designed by the architect, an enlarged master suite, new Great Room and a strengthened indoor-outdoor relationship. Respecting the original home’s meaningful components, several of the existing pieces like the front door and gilded stair railings were repurposed into interior artwork.
Overall Grand Award – Commercial Remodeling Category and Grand Award – Commercial Remodeling 7,501-15,000 Square Feet
For its work on Easter Seals Kahului, Armstrong Pacific received two awards, including the Overall Grand Award in the commercial remodeling category. The renovation of the 8,000-square-foot former preschool into a $2 million state-of-the-art learning center included new classrooms and a commercial kitchen to accommodate training and recreational programs. In addition, the project included hazardous materials abatement; new plumbing and electrical wiring; new bathrooms; a new roof and air conditioning and ventilation system. In addition, Armstrong Pacific resurfaced the parking lot, installed new landscaping and irrigation, and built a new covered pavilion.
Grand Award – Commercial Remodeling Under 7,500 Square Feet
Armstrong Pacific also received a Grand Award for Commercial Remodeling Under 7,500 Square Feet its Hyatt Regency Maui lobby transformation. The 30-year-old lobby was renovated to provide a dramatic arrival experience for guests. Incorporated into the new design were a combination of natural colors and modern touches that include stone-clad columns, three-dimensional wall panels, colorful murals, teak and African mahogany. New pod-style registration and concierge desks were designed to create an intimate, yet elegant reception environment and an enhanced observation deck featuring curved glass railings and new tile flooring provide for breathtaking views of the Pacific.
