Distributed Audio Products
  • Multiroom/multisource controllers
  • Distributed amplifiers
  • In-ceiling, in-wall, on-wall and outdoor speakers
  • Infrared distribution systems
  • Music storage and management systems
  • Structured wiring and enabling systems
  • The Distributed Audio Alliance, an arm of the Consumer Electronics Association, is reaching out to home builders to consider incorporating more wiring systems in new construction.

According to the DAA, distributed audio can add to the value, beauty, functionality and sound quality of a new home. Systems can be installed through a home entertainment center with an audiovisual receiver or via a central panel configuration that serves as a control hub, similar to structured wiring setups.

DAA chairman Peter Hoagland says there’s a false impression that distributed audio products are very high-end technology and therefore very expensive. He says a substantive system can be put in for an average of $500-$1,000 per room.

"These systems are easy to install, reliable, and they don't have to delay the building process," says Hoagland. "We refer the right people to make sure that the right kind of contractor is working with the home builder, someone who understands their schedules and how they do business."
